Now for something different from the everr amazing Point Prim Lighthouse!




Located in southwestern Nova Scotia on the Bay of Fundy across the bay from Saint John New Brunswick is the small town of Digby. The area is well known for whale watching.  If you go out to the point you are able to see the sunrise & sunset! On our third day of our trip we planned on sleeping at the lighthouse in the car.

After a long drive we finally arrived! Unfortunately there was a bright street light illuminating the lot & houses where very close by. Not an ideal place to sleep! After looking at the map, Zenning with Zay found a round nearby that would hopefully serve as our campground. My biggest concern was obviously with our safety. We parked, setup inside the car & had a few drinks before shutting it down for the night.

It was jut before sunrise when an ATV rove right by us.  I woke & was trying to get up & out of the car.  But, having completely closed the windows  just waking, I was a bit dazed & ended up setting the car alarm off instead!  Fortunately Zay got us organized & we headed down to the lighthouse for the below sunrise pics!!





Fast forward to November 2021 & we find ourselves back in Nova Scotia on yet another road trip! This time we were on our honeymoon with our Husky puppy, Opie!

So continuing on we had just finished the day exploring the epic Abandoned Theme Park!  We we fairly close so we decided to haul our butts over & try to capture the sunset for a different perspective!  With maybe 10 minutes to spare we arrived at the lighthouse.  Raced down to the water in the incredibly gusty wind & were able to capture some incredible photos.  Point Prim Lighthouse is truly an amazing place & has never ceased to amaze me!  I am so grateful Zay shared it with me!  Bellow are the photos from the sunset visit!

Hopewell Rocks are rock formations located on the west side of the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick.  These incredible rock formations as also known as Flowerpot Rocks or simply The Rocks.  Thee beautiful formations stand anywhere from 40 feet to 70 feet!

The area in which these are located experiences the most dramatic changes in the world! Tides vary from day to day, but the high tide can raise water levels up 52 feet!!! Due to these ever fluctuating tides, a significant portion of the base of the rocks are covered by the water twice a day.





These rock formations are made up of dark sedimentary conglomerate & sandstone rock.   When the glaciers in the region retreated after the last ice age, surface water filtering through cracks in the cliff eroded & separated the formations from the rest of the cliff face. Coupled with the ever changing tides & waves, the base of the rocks have eroded at a faster rate than the tops, resulting in their unusual shapes.





During our visit to Hopewell Rocks most of the park was closed as it was off season. Fortunately we still were able to get right down to the base during low tide.  I must saw that despite not being all that interested in going here, I am beyond grateful that Zenning with Zay made me do it!  They were truly an incredible site to see!  As much as I thought Flower Pot Island was impressive, Hopewell Rocks blow them out of the water!!  If you are ever in the area I highly recommend visiting this incredible natural wonder!

In August of 2020 Zenning with Zay & I visited The Crack Killarney Provincial Park & did hike into the La Cloche Mountains! I must say this was an amazing place & the views spectacular! The wind was strong at the top so I was limited on how far up I could take my drone but it still was amazing! Be sure to check out the blog to see pictures from the entire hike!



The La Cloche Mountains, also called the La Cloche Range, are a range of mountains in Northern Ontario, along the northern shore of Lake Huron near Manitoulin Island. The mountains are located in the Canadian Shield, and are composed primarily of white quartzite.

The hike in starts at an old logging trail & is quite easy!  But it doesn't take long for things to get difficult.





The Crack is a stunning steep sided crevasse slicing through a quartzite rock cliff, located Killarney Provincial Park. The destination is popular with hikers for the iconic Killarney views of pristine lakes framed by the white quartzite La Cloche mountains.

Once we reached the base of the crack, that's when it became tricky.   You certainly want to wear good footwear here as the terrain is rough!  It didn't help that it was crazy humid & I had all my camera gear in my backpack.  But, the beauty of this region quickly made us forget all our troubles!



When we finally reached the top of The Crack Killarney Provincial Park, it was immediately clear as to why anyone would make the hike out there.  The highest point had quite a few people but we spotted an amazing view of the mountains & when we walked over to it, nobody was there.  Kinda funny how most people stick to the beaten path when the true beauty can be found if you look a little further!  The hike is considered moderate & is roughly 7.5km round trip.  You have to take the same trail back otherwise you end up on a massive 78km hike!
