Abandoned Gingerbread Time Capsule

The Abandoned Gingerbread Time Capsule House was pretty amazing. Zenning with Zay had come across it, and after seeing her photos, I was eager to check it out for myself.

The house felt really out of place in such a heavily treed area. You’d expect to see something like this sitting out in a farm field. Because of that, it stayed well hidden for a long time until Zay found it.

From the outside, I was impressed—but that wasn’t even the best part. Once inside, it was something else. Room after room was filled with interesting, older items left behind. The furniture came from an era when things were built to last, and in this case, it outlasted the people who lived there.

Every room had its own feel, which made it easy to go back a couple weeks later and still find new angles to shoot. Places like this can be a bit overwhelming the first time, so going back actually made a lot of sense.

At the time, I wasn’t able to find much information about the property. I could’ve dug into old atlases, but realistically that would’ve just given me the name of the original landowner. The Abandoned Gingerbread Time Capsule has since been demolished, which is often how these places end. Nothing has been built there since, and all that’s left now are the photos taken by the people who explored it.
