Massive Abandoned House

On our way to explore another house, Zenning with Zay & I came across this Massive Abandoned House!  So we decided to check it out!

Tucked away in a quiet pocket of former farmland sits a Massive Abandoned House that has stood since 1875. This once-proud home, now crumbling and forgotten, has been empty for decades.

The property, now owned by a developer, is caught in a strange limbo. Despite its rich history, no efforts have been made to restore it. It has instead been left to slowly rot, surrounded by creeping urban expansion from the east, west, and south.

This massive abandoned house has been listed on the Cultural Heritage Register, but not for reasons of pride. It is officially recognized as suffering from “demolition by neglect,” a term used when historical structures are allowed to deteriorate through inaction.

No furniture remains inside. The rooms stand empty, hollowed out by time and vandalism. A few walls have been tagged with graffiti, a final insult to the building's fading grandeur. But, I did clean up some photos.

Despite its decay, beauty can still be seen in the details. The front entrance on the main floor features original woodwork—crafted with great care and clearly meant to impress visitors long ago.

The house itself is quite large, with the proportions of a country mansion. It was likely a symbol of status and success when first built. Now, it’s a relic surrounded by fields steadily being replaced by suburbs.

Its future remains uncertain. No redevelopment plan has been announced, and no preservation efforts have been initiated. As more land is swallowed by nearby cities, this Massive Abandoned House continues to stand—empty, overlooked, and quietly vanishing.
