On our one year anniversary Zenning with Zay & I went explored this Abandoned Quebec Farm House!  A random find shortly after waking up at our crown and campsite! It turned out to be an amazing find!




It had been one year since we got married in the Abandoned Burwash Prison!  We decided a great way to spend it was to go on a road trip for some exploring & crow land camping with our pup, Opie!





Once we had packed up our tent at our lake-side camp site & headed out looking for adventure. There was't really that many places lined up to explore. We just wanted to explore! Not long in the car & I spotted this beauty!  This old cedar shake house had been abandoned for quite some time.   This place sure seemed like a hunt camp.





It seemed like the kitchen area was used as a cabin. It wasn't clear to me at the time, but after the explore this made sense. Above the kitchen was a storage room which was actually quite big! It was interesting to see how this part was built n to the existing house. You can see this in the video but it wasn't really easy to get a photo of it.





The main house was pretty awesome! It was showing signs of its age. It al seemed to slope to the centre of the house. But actually, it went right to a back corner. I had a peek into the basement & saw it was in rough shape. There was no safe way to get down there but I had zero intentions in doing that. When I got upstairs, that's when I really noticed the decay! The last two pics above were from upstairs as were the rest below!





There were two rooms upstairs that were amazing! I loved the the old bed & pram. Especially the colours, texture & decay! This was a pretty epic explore! Be sure to check out more Abandoned Quebec places!!

In November of 2021 Zenning with Zay & I decided it was time to get away & go on a road trip!  In fact, it had been to nearly two months since we got married in the Abandoned Burwash Prison & no honeymoon as of yet!  So we decided to do what we both love which is exploring, road trips with our Opie, adventure & spending time together!!








I didn't start documenting our East Coast Road Trip until the third day.  The reason for this is that the first to days were essentially us driving through very familiar territory.  We just wanted to get out east as far as possible in the shortest amount of time!  The first stop we took where we actually took our cameras out was Chutes-de-la-Chaudière!  This 35M tall waterfall was VERY impressive!  Plus being able to access the bottom on those jagged rocks made for some great shots!





We then headed east along the backroads looking for anything interesting to shoot.  Soon enough we started coming across abandoned in Quebec near the New Brunswick border!  Unfortunately they were all locked up tight but that's okay!





The last stop of the day before we found a place to sleep was this huge abandoned school. Unfortunately I was unable to find anything about it & it was VERY well sealed so we didn't get a chance to go inside. That said, we were able to capture some dramatic sunsets as you can see!!

The next day we started out with exploring this Decaying Abandoned New Brunswick House.  This was explored before we even had a coffee into us!  That may sound like nothing, but we had slept in the car a few nights already so it was definitely needed!   From there We toured our way to Nova Scotia with plans of staying somewhere near the Bay of Fundy.  We stopped at an awesome covered bridge & a few more abandoned house but the weather was crummy & most places were locked up tight.   We had already travelled so far & were about half way into the adventure.  This was about the time we really started exploring!!   Stay tuned for part two!!

The Abandoned 1970s Ski Resort has been abandoned for over 30 years & people are really getting concerned with it.  Fortunately Zenning with Zay & I had the opportunity to explore it as it sounds like its days are numbered.





The first actually skiers to the hills came in 1968 when the slopes were initially developed by a Swiss company. In order for them to do business within Canada they had to create jobs. Within in a few years the resort was booming which led to the building of the resort.





The resort & conference centre was state of the art with conference rooms, large dining halls, a screening room & many guest rooms. It peaked during the 70's & 80's as guests flocked to the quieter & more affordable mountain compared to others in the region where prices were inflated & line ups long.





Details aren't 100% clear but I was able to piece together a fairly decent timeline for the Abandoned 1970s Ski Resort.  It seems the Swiss developer who created the resort met their obligation to the Canadian government in the 1990's.  They then shifted their focus to other resort, Mont Tremblant which they owned.





The concerns surrounding this old abandoned building are number one, its a huge safety concern. The place is in ruins. The bones are good, but there are numerous hazards. Smashed windows, mold, open elevator shafts are some of the many issues. Secondly it's an eyesore! Many of he newer condos face this building & obviously nonexplorers cannot see the beauty in decay like us! Another issue if I the translation was correct is hydro. It sounds like the newer buildings have their hydro metres within or intertwined with the old abandoned buildings power.  It may be a miss-translation or just terrible engineering.





It was bitterly cold when we explored the resort. Tucked between the mountains, there seemed to be a cold front lingering. It was actually so cold my drone was not behaving as it should but fortunately I was able to at least get a little footage for the video but sadly no pics.





I must say it was a pretty awesome explore despite being so trashed. The views were phenomenal & I bet the skiing is great! My understanding is this was one of the first mountains to open for the 2020 season! After this explore we heading to Ottawa to explore an epic abandoned mansion so be sure to check that out as well!!!

It was our second day of an eight day road trip & Zenning with Zay & suggested we get off the main highway & hit the back roads to see what we could find.  It was long before we came across this abandoned waterfront resort.  Right away we noticed the shingles on the roof were in terrible conditions & even some were blown off & laying in the parking lot.  We quickly parked & started to wander around!



With roots dating back to the late 1800's, the real history I could dig up was when it was a hugely popular during the 1940's through 1960's.  The resort, situated along a massive body of water featured 140 units with a full bathroom, a restaurant that could accommodate up to 300 people, a swimming pool with a high diving board & a golf course!  The resort was a hugely popular destination as well as stop over for travellers & I have read stories of people having visited it for 60 plus years with many fond memories.



Over the years as popularity declined, so did the resort.  People were buying cottages rather than staying resorts.  This trend was specific to this resort, it was actually happening across the continent affecting regions like Muskoka, Catskills & so on.  Many resorts disappeared & the handful that managed to hang on were in decline.



Things seemed to take a turn for the worst during the 2000's.  Rooms were very outdated & musty smelling.   Modern amenities such as Air Conditioning, in room refrigerator & WiFi were non-existent but many still came & raved about the restaurant!  Reviews from 2008 indicate the grounds were not being maintained as well as one would expect, dated decor, lack of jacuzzi/pool during the winter months.  As time passed, the state of the resort worsened with continued complaints around the rooms, overall condition of the buildings & lack of anything to do despite charging a premium price to guests.



During the end, the owner had plans of major redevelopment of the grounds which included luxury condos as the site is absolutely gorgeous & many of the locals stood behind the plan however at the eastern end of the property were a group of newly built houses & the owners were adamant about not wanting this project to take place.   That, along with heritage rules which required the current owner to leave the exteriors of the buildings as is & his eventual bankruptcy marked the end of an era for this resort.



Unbeknownst to us, the resort was purchased in June of 2019 by a group of 10 residents with one goal in mind which was to reopen to resort!  They are seeking a credible entrepreneur who is ready to invest a large sum of money that could have to potential for a huge ROI.  The interesting part of this purchase is that the group who now owns the resort aren't necessarily looking to profit of its eventual sale but rather to help revitalize the small town & bring back a significant piece of history!



Unfortunately on our visit both the restaurant & hall which also feature an art gallery were locked up tight which makes sense as not only were they pristine, but the new owners have the vision of bringing the resort back to life.  Although I was disappointed being unable to get in, I was pleased that some of the rooms at this Abandoned Waterfront Resort were accessible!  Hopefully this gorgeous property is reverted to its former glory in the near future!

Located in a mountainous region of Quebec is the close to 100 year old Abandoned Manoir Ogilvie.





After her husband, a flour mill industrialist passed away in 1900, he left a fortune to his wife, Helen Johnston.   The total worth of the fortune was estimated to be roughly $2 million dollars which is equivalent to $60 million dollars today.  Helen then built a stunning English-American Queen Anne-style manor complete with all the latest in luxuries. The grounds also included barns & stables.





Some years later after Hellen's passing the mansion & lands became a part of a large recreational facility which eventually closed leaving the mansion abandoned. During the time it was part of the recreational facility the original design & architecture were untouched so upon visiting recently it was was like taking a step back in time!





It was the last day of an eight day road trip with Zenning with Zay & our GPS took us north of a major city to get around heavy morning rush hour traffic. That is when Zay asked if I had ever visited this mansion to which I replied no & let's go! Zay had first visited in 2016 & was excited to return to see what if anything had changed. As we made our way up she immediately noticed that all the boards that previously covered the windows had since been removed. At the time of her visit there were notices up about a movie soon to be filmed there requisting that anyone visiting kindly not damage or alter the building in anyway. One of the first things aside from the beautiful building was the awazing front porch with an enclosed sunroom!





Off the sunroom was a large room with a beautiful stone fireplace, hardwood floors & gorgeous wood beams in the ceiling. This room was massive & off of it was a smaller but still quite large room which I suspect was a library. Again, beautiful beams crisscrossed the ceiling &built in shelves & cupboards lined two of four walls. There was a small room off to one side that lead outside, as well, an open window area which I assumed was used to serve food though from a back kitchen area.





There was a fair sized kitchen at the right side of the house which seemed to be all original in layout & design. It was really cool seeing where the original wood fired stove had sat. Leading to the kitchen was an arched door way that led to the main stairs of the house. We'll get to those beauties shortly but first let's get through the rest of the main floor!





Off the main staircase was another corridor that led to a bathroom with a tub which seemed odd on the main floor where there weren't any bedrooms. Beyond that there was another kitchen on the left side of the house. Now let's get to the stairs!





As with any staircase I try to capture it from every angle to showcase their beauty & despite spindles missing, these did not disappoint! After reaching the staircase it became obvious that what I had originally assumed was the front was actually the back of the mansion & the front door led to the grand staircase!





As I reached the top of the stairs I was surprised to see yet another staircase leading to the third floor! But lets explore the second floor before moving on. Once again I shot the stairs from every angle as well as the corridor that ran from end to end of the mansion!





There were several bedrooms all with plenty of windows allowing plenty of sunlight it on all sides. I was quite impressed with how thick the walls were. Above the front door was a set of double doors leading out to a balcony. There was still one more bedroom, the master & it sure was incredible!





The master was very large featuring windwos overlooking the grounds, a beautiful stone fire place & smaller room off the one side. Obviously the bathtub was not originally there but it sure looked awesome for photos when I walked in!





The third flor had significantly lower ceilings & lacked all the luster evident in the frist two floors. This led me to believe that it could have been servants quarters as there was a full bathroom up there. There was also ample storage space! In all, I must say this was such an incredible explore that I did plan on visiting on a previous road trip however it was so far out of the way I never took the opportunity!
