Abandoned 8 Million Dollar Mansion

I spotted this odd looking building on a map & it immediately had me curious.  I wasn't quite sure what it was but there were signs of it being abandoned.  Over the past few months I have been meaning to check on it but always forgot about it until I was home from exploring.  Recently I was out with Zenning with Zay & we decided we would not miss it this time.  We really had no idea what was in store for us or even if we could get in & as daylight began slipping away, we raced to what we now know as the Abandoned 8 Million Dollar Mansion to try our luck!

This Abandoned 8 Million Dollar Mansion sits on closer to an acre lot & has plenty of yard space, large deck at the back that also runs along the side of the house, a balcony over the 3 car garage, a full sized tennis court & even a tree house!   There are no neighbours close by & the property connects to a green space.  While exploring this mansion I spotted two white tailed deer!

When you enter the mansion the first thing you see is a stunning curved staircase with a bridge all under 12 skylight windows.  It really quite an impressive sight!  I have explored a mansion before that had a bridge over the swimming pool however never a bridge inside the home itself!  Some other key features aside from the bridge & the two spiral staircases, indoor swimming pool, large sauna on the lower level & a small one in the master bath which also includes a big Jacuzzi tub, 5 bedrooms & 7 bathrooms.

The main staircase was so unique & different from anything I have shot.  It took a little time for it to grow on me but as I edited these pictures I fell in love with it!  It was odd that the pool was completely covered up with a makeshift floor & even stranger was that they had floor vents & duct work to re-purpose the entire room!  As mentioned in the video, this mansion was clearly used for a different purpose than a wealthy living space in its final days.  I feel that it was used for at risk youth as a private full time residence with schooling.  I have done quite a bit of research however I am drawing a blank for the last few years of its use.  Regardless, it was still an absolutely amazing new discovery & explore!

The house was put on the market with an asking price of $8,000,000.  From what I have learned, who ever used it last was leasing it & likely from a developer as this gem in the city is worth huge bucks!

  1. Wow. Thanks for posting the video. My parents built the house originally in 1979/1980. Lived there for 7 years as a teen. Watching this video was absolutely heart breaking. It definitely has seen better times. I have many photos of the pool and still remember when it was built. We had a pond in the back with fish as well. If you learn more about what happened to it in.l the last few years please let me know.

    1. Oh wow that is incredible! My understanding after further research is that it as used by a school/church group for preforming arts! If you happen to have any older/original photos I would absolutely love to see them & with your permission share them!

  2. Just wondering why would a church/performing arts center have locks on the bedroom doors that seems a little strange to me.

    1. It does seem strange to me as well. I guess it was to keep people out rather than in. Either way…it was odd.
